Revived 1970s Camper Trailer

See how one couple perfectly revived their fantastic 1970s camper trailer. By Sienna Fantozzi Jan 23, 2016 Revived 1970s Camper Trailer Talk about lucky: when Mia Cefkin and her husband David decided to splurge on a camper for their traveling adventures, they stumbled upon a camper outfitted with charming vintage appliances already in place. Mia was inspired by the tiny camper’s original appliances, and took the opportunity to outfit the rest of the space with bright and quirky interior decorating finds. The couple, who own a log cabin in Franklin, North Carolina, recently acquired the vintage camper and now park it at the foot of their homestead’s hill. The 70s camper, which they affectionately dubbed “Sweet Dreams Camper,” features bold turquoise blues and bright cherry reds throughout. From the appliances to the curtains, to the seat cushions, and even the throw pillows, everything is adorned in bright colors and polka dot patterns. We have to imagine that it would be hard not to have a good time while hanging out inside this camper! Note to Mia and David: If you ever need an extra traveling companion or two, give us a call! Install a Stainless Steel Sheet

Install a stainless steel sheet behind your range for a sharp look and easy cleaning. Install a stainless steel backsplash behind the range quickly and easily with construction adhesive. Buy the sheet precut to the exact size you need. By the DIY experts of The Family Handyman Magazine A stainless backsplash is a striking complement to stainless appliances. It’s also durable, easy to clean and a cinch to install. The edges will be sharp, so wear gloves and protect the surfaces in your kitchen. On the back side of the panel, use a caulk gun to apply a bead of heavy-duty construction adhesive (Loctite PL 400 is an example) across the entire panel surface. Use a wide putty knife to spread the adhesive evenly (Photo 1). A cleat beneath the panel will support the backsplash as the adhesive cures (Photo 2). Position the panel carefully and then press it firmly against the wall. Starting at one end, use a clean, soft rag to smooth the backsplash into place and remove any air bubbles. When you’re finished, remove the protective plastic...

9 Ways to Boost Your All-White Color Scheme

by Yanic Simard Houzz contributor. Principal designer at the award-winning Toronto Interior Love the look of fresh white but don’t want to feel like you live in a cold, minimalist compound? Here’s how to boost white to get a livable, inviting look that feels airy, open and full of personality. A kitchen can be mostly white surfaces and still have a sense of life with just a few colorful accents. Notice the red dials on the range, which add personality, as well as the occasional accessory and plant life. These add up to a feeling of a more diverse palette without any single hue taking over from white as the focus. Open shelves are an especially effective way of revealing some hits of color through everyday dish ware. With the plant life below, this kitchen feels miles from all-white. For a seasonal pop of color, try removable chair covers in a saturated hue. They’ll help add interest to an all-white scheme, are easy to clean and can be stored away between seasons to switch up the look throughout the year. Read more...

9 Reasons to Buy a Painting

by Laura Gaskill at Houzz There’s no doubt that buying prints and posters is fun (and affordable) — but there’s a lot to be said for saving up for a piece of one-of-a-kind art. If you’ve been sticking with framed prints, let these 10 reasons tempt you into your neighborhood gallery to peruse the paintings instead.   1. Buying a painting supports the artist directly. Painters pour their hearts into their work, and it can be difficult to make ends meet in such a labor-intensive and competitive field. Enrich your home and feel good knowing your purchase is helping to support a local artist by shopping at local galleries. Jessica Helgerson Interior Design 3. Paintings are perfect for renters. If you rent, it can be difficult to personalize your space when you’re not allowed to paint the walls or make certain other changes. But hang a painting or two, and the space instantly feels more you. And unlike bulky pieces of furniture, a painting will fit in any home you live in, making it a wiser investment if you move frequently. 3. Paintings are perfect for renters.
